Episode-264- Backyard From Vision To Reality

If I started over I would begin with a read of Gaia’s Garden by Toby Hemenway. I would then map my property on a topographic map to verify surveyed contour and the overlay my garden plans on that. The design would be a south facing U-shaped sun trap with swales on contours. I did not start that way but I am moving towards that design.

Geoff Lawton of Australia has some of the best video examples of gardening in any and every climate.

I now concentrate on what we actually like to eat that are perennials. I have berries of every type, fruit trees, asparagus, horseradish, and then I throw in a whole bunch annual flowers and vegetables. I’m gearing up the green room for hundreds of plants that I’ll start from seed. All this on less than 2,00 square feet.
So I hope this helps to provide some inspiration. Let me know if you have any questions.
